About Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa
Shyam Shah Medical College (SSMC), Rewa, is one of the oldest and most reputed government medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh, India. Established in 1963, it is named after Shyam Shah Singh, a rebel of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. Located in the heart of Rewa city in the Vindhya region, the college is affiliated with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU), Jabalpur, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It initially operated from Model Science College, Rewa, and moved to its own building inaugurated on 3 October 1980. The college offers MBBS, MD/MS, diploma, and paramedical courses, and is associated with Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital (SGMH), a major multispecialty teaching hospital serving the Vindhya region.

Yes. After completing MBBS, candidates must serve a compulsory rural/government service bond of 1 year. Candidates who skip service must pay a penalty of ₹10 lakh (General/EWS) or ₹5 lakh (other categories) to proceed for medical council registration or PG studies.
