The institution is affiliated to Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences (formerly Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences), Vijayawada, which is recognised as the first Medical University in Asia and oversees more than 500 Medical, Paramedical, AYUSH, and Nursing colleges across Andhra Pradesh. The college is recognised by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi, and the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The Sri Adi Siva Sadguru Educational Society, which manages the college, is a well-established body with over 15 years of experience in the field of nursing and paramedical education. The Society has been widely known for its Sri Padmavathi Nursing Institutions in Guntakal, which have consistently delivered quality nursing and paramedical training. Building on this legacy, the Society expanded into Ayurvedic medical education with the vision of producing fully qualified, compassionate medical professionals capable of meeting both national and global healthcare requirements. The college offers the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), a 5.5-year undergraduate programme comprising 4.5 years of intensive classroom and clinical study followed by a 1-year mandatory rotatory internship. The medium of instruction is English. With an annual sanctioned intake of 100 seats, admissions are governed through the NEET UG examination and the Andhra Pradesh AYUSH Competent Authority Quota (CQ) counselling administered by Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences. For All India Quota (AIQ), 15% of seats are allocated through the AACCC (Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee), while 85% fall under the State Quota through NTRUHS. The BAMS programme at the college encompasses all foundational and clinical departments of Ayurveda. Pre-clinical departments include Shareera Rachana (Anatomy), Shareer Kriya (Physiology), Samhita Siddhanta (Basic Principles), Dravyaguna (Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology), and Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana. Clinical departments include Kaya Chikitsa (General Medicine), Panchakarma, Shalya Tantra (Surgery), Shalakya Tantra (Ophthalmology and ENT), Prasuthi and Striroga (Gynaecology and Obstetrics), Kaumarabritya (Paediatrics), Roga Nidan Vikriti Vignan (Pathology), Swasthavritta (Community Medicine), and Agada Tantra Vyavahar Ayurveda (Forensic Medicine). The college's attached teaching hospital, Sri Padmavathi Srinivasa Ayurveda Hospital, provides students with comprehensive clinical exposure. It offers outpatient and inpatient care in line with NCISM norms and caters to patients across all departments of Ayurveda. The campus infrastructure includes a well-equipped herbal garden that serves as a live pharmacognosy laboratory — one of the most prominent features of the institution. Students gain hands-on knowledge of identifying and processing medicinal plants used in classical Ayurvedic formulations. The college library maintains an extensive collection of national and international Ayurvedic journals, research papers, reference books, and e-resources. Internet connectivity at the library supports digital learning. Dedicated laboratories with modern equipment are available for all pre-clinical subjects, including an anatomy dissection hall and a museum. A gymnasium and facilities for cultural and extracurricular activities promote holistic student development. The college's vision is to nurture young talent into skilled Ayurvedic practitioners, academicians, and researchers who embody compassion, serve humanity, and champion Ayurveda on the global stage. Its mission encompasses delivering quality Ayurvedic education, providing disciplined healthcare services, creating research platforms that integrate ancient and modern medical sciences, and systematising Ayurvedic knowledge to meet international standards. The institution is committed to producing graduates who can engage in private practice, specialty Panchakarma clinics, government service, teaching, and research. Graduates of BAMS are eligible to register with state medical councils and practice as Ayurvedic physicians.
