Sri Siddhartha Medical College (SSMC), Tumkur is one of Karnataka's oldest and most reputed private medical institutions, established in September 1988 under the aegis of Sri Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES). Founded by the late Sri H.M. Gangadharaiah and Dr. G. Shivaprasad, the college was set up with the vision of providing affordable, high-quality professional healthcare education and medical treatment to underserved communities. It is a constituent college of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education (SSAHE), a deemed-to-be university since 2008. Located on the Bengaluru–Honnavar National Highway (B.H. Road), approximately 6 km from Tumkur city centre and around 90–95 km from Bengaluru, the campus spans 220–250 acres of lush green surroundings with 24 buildings covering a built-in area of 91,875 sq. mt. The college offers MBBS with an annual intake of 150 seats and 49+ PG (MD/MS) seats across 16+ departments. The attached multi-specialty teaching hospital — Sri Siddhartha Hospital — has 1,350 beds, 12 operation theatres, ICU/ICCU/NICU/MICU/SICU facilities, and attends to approximately 1,800 outpatients daily, offering both general and super-specialty care. SSMC also uniquely houses the Siddhartha Advanced Heart Center in association with Kardiac Frontida. The college is accredited NAAC 'A' grade, NABH & NABL certified, and recognized by NMC, CPCSEA, NIRF, and IQAC. It is ranked 11th among deemed medical colleges and among the top 100 medical colleges in India by NIRF 2022.
