Tezpur University (TU) is a Central University in Napaam, Tezpur, Assam, established in 1994 by an Act of Parliament as one of the outcomes of the Assam Accord — alongside Assam University and IIT Guwahati. It is a non-affiliating, residential Central University spread over a 262-acre green campus on the banks of the Brahmaputra, about 175 km from Guwahati. TU is NAAC A+ accredited (CGPA 3.41) and won the President of India's 'Best Central University' Visitor's Award in 2016. In NIRF 2025, Tezpur University is ranked #79 in the University category (score 49.31), #101-150 Overall, #151-200 in Engineering, and #101-125 in Management. It also features in QS Asia and THE Asia rankings. The School of Engineering (SoE), established in 2006, houses ten departments — Applied Sciences, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Energy, Design, Food Engineering & Technology (FET), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Vocational Studies & Skill Development — each with dedicated academic buildings plus a shared School of Engineering complex (~2,980 sq.m).
