About Uma Nath Singh Autonomous State Medical College Society, Jaunpur
Uma Nath Singh Autonomous State Medical College (UNS ASMC), Jaunpur, formerly known as Government Medical College, Jaunpur, is a government autonomous medical institution established and run by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under an Autonomous Society for State Medical Colleges. The foundation stone of the college was laid on 25 September 2014 by then Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The college became operational and commenced its first MBBS batch in 2021, receiving the Letter of Permission from NMC on 01 November 2021. In July 2021, the institution was officially renamed in honour of the late social worker and freedom fighter Uma Nath Singh. It is affiliated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU), Lucknow, and is duly recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The 50-acre campus is located in the Siddiqpur area on Shahganj Road, Jaunpur — approximately 40 km from Babatpur Airport (Varanasi) — and houses an in-campus teaching hospital, academic building, administrative block, and separate residential and hostel areas for students and faculty. The college offers an MBBS program with 100 seats annually, and from 2024, 6 PG (MD) seats have been added in Anatomy (3) and Biochemistry (3). Being a newly established government college, the college follows the NMC-mandated Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum with a focus on clinical exposure, research, and community healthcare.

Modern lecture halls equipped with audio-visual aids and ICT-based teaching infrastructure. Smart classrooms support the NMC-mandated Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum. Demonstration halls and examination halls are also part of the academic block.
