About Viraat Ramayan Institute of Medical Sciences
Viraat Ramayan Institute of Medical Sciences (VRIMS) is a newly established private medical college located at VPO Koyala Belwa, PS-Chakia, East Champaran (Motihari), Bihar, founded for the academic session 2025-26. The institute is named after the iconic Viraat Ramayan Mandir, projected to be the largest temple in the world, situated nearby in the Chakia region of East Champaran. VRIMS is affiliated with the Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS), Patna, and has received the Letter of Permission (LOP) from the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi, making it one of the newest NMC-approved medical colleges in Bihar. VRIMS operates under the DPS Trust and was established with the mission of delivering world-class medical education and advanced healthcare services to the North Bihar and East Champaran region, with a particular focus on rural and underserved communities. The institution's philosophy is built on three pillars — compassionate care, academic excellence, and research innovation — and follows an early clinical learning model with AETCOM integration from Phase I itself. The campus spans 12.920 acres at Koyala Belwa and features a 24,957 sq. m. academic block with digital lecture halls, a 1,000 sq. m. air-conditioned central library with 300+ seating capacity and 6,500+ medical books, a 600 sq. m. Skill and Simulation Lab with 15 training stations and high-fidelity mannequins, state-of-the-art pre-clinical labs (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry), a digital section with 25 high-speed computer nodes, a dedicated auditorium, expansive sports grounds, a gymnasium, and separate hostels for boys, girls, and interns. The campus has 1,500 KVA power backup and an on-campus Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) for uninterrupted green operations. The attached VRIMS Teaching Hospital is a 650-bed multispecialty facility spanning 40,369 sq. m., making it one of the largest hospital facilities in East Champaran. It handles 1,200+ OPD patients daily and provides advanced critical care through dedicated ICU, NICU, and PICU units. The hospital operates a 24/7 casualty and trauma centre, advanced radiology (MRI, CT scan, digital X-ray), and a centralized modern diagnostic laboratory — giving students exceptional clinical exposure from the very first year of their MBBS programme.
