About Yellamma Dasappa Institute of Technology

Yellamma Dasappa Institute of Technology (YDIT), established in 2001, is a private engineering college located at the 14th kilometre of the Kanakapura Main Road (NH-209), Raghuvanahalli, Bengaluru. The institute was founded by the Yellamma Dasappa Educational and Charitable Trust in honour of the late Smt. Yellamma Dasappa, the mother of the late Sri Y.D. Ganeshappa. The institute was founded on the belief that the continuous pursuit of knowledge is the sole path to success—a guiding philosophy that shapes its academic and institutional culture. YDIT is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and accredited by NAAC. The institute is governed under the Yellamma Dasappa Educational and Charitable Trust and holds the distinction of delivering quality technical education for over two decades in Karnataka. The YDIT campus spans approximately 10 acres and is situated on the peaceful outskirts of Bengaluru along the Kanakapura Road, offering students a focused learning environment away from the distractions of the city centre. The campus is well-connected by road transport and is in close proximity to Kammavari Sangham Institute of Technology and BCMC Layout Park. Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport is about 46.6 km away, and the Majestic Railway Station is approximately 14.1 km from campus. Academically, YDIT offers five full-time Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) programmes: Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. All programmes are of 4-year duration and follow the VTU curriculum, ensuring academic rigour and industry relevance. The institute has a total seat intake of 180 students across its five programmes, with seats distributed between CSE, ECE, and the other streams. The faculty at YDIT comprises 37 dedicated teaching professionals who are well-qualified and experienced in their respective disciplines. Professors like Dr. P. Sheshanna (ECE) and R. Thammaiah have contributed significantly to the academic development of the institute. The student-faculty relationship at YDIT is marked by accessibility and personal mentorship, ensuring that students receive the guidance they need both academically and professionally. The infrastructure at YDIT includes department-wise, well-equipped laboratories that provide hands-on practical training in engineering. The central library is equipped with a range of technical textbooks, reference books, and digital resources aligned with the VTU syllabus. The campus also features spacious classrooms, a seminar hall with audio-visual infrastructure, a cafeteria providing hygienic food, a medical first aid facility, and a car park. Wi-Fi connectivity supports internet-based learning. YDIT provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls for outstation students, offering basic but comfortable accommodations with essential amenities for residential life. The institute also provides a transport facility with buses connecting students from different parts of Bengaluru, easing the daily commute for day scholars. Sports and recreational facilities are available to promote physical wellness and teamwork among students. The institute's placement cell has a track record of connecting students with companies in IT, manufacturing, and services sectors. Recruiters who have visited YDIT include Infosys, IBM, Exilant, Unisys, Sonata, Indusnet Techshu, Linpack Technologies, Deloitte, Samsung R&D Institute India, and Shahin Construction, among others. The placement statistics for 2023 place the annual fee around INR 4.25 Lakhs per year. The management provides guidance and industry exposure through internships, live projects, and industry visits. YDIT firmly believes in nurturing technically competent, socially responsible professionals who can face global challenges and contribute to society. The institute maintains a transparent and structured admission process through KCET and COMEDK UGET entrance examinations, ensuring merit-based selection. Scholarships from the central and state government are available for eligible students, including Karnataka state scholarships for SC/ST/OBC students, merit-based assistance, and private NGO scholarships. Despite being a smaller institution, YDIT's commitment to providing practical, hands-on engineering education with dedicated faculty makes it a viable choice for students seeking engineering education at an affordable cost in Bengaluru's southern corridor.
