About M.Arch
A Master of Architecture (M.Arch) is a two-year postgraduate program for B.Arch graduates looking to specialize deeply in a specific area of architecture or planning, move into research and academia, or take on leadership roles in design practice. The program combines advanced design studio work with a research thesis.
Admission to centrally funded institutes like the IITs and NITs is primarily through GATE (Architecture & Planning), which also qualifies candidates for an AICTE stipend. Several other universities and architecture schools conduct their own entrance test and portfolio review as an alternate route. The program is structured around specialization-focused design studio and coursework in the first year, followed by a research thesis in the second.
