According to the revised counselling schedule notified by the Convener, PG (Dental) Counselling and Admission Committee, on August 25, 2026, the final seat matrix for this cycle was published on August 29, 2026, ahead of today's provisional merit list. Candidates who find any discrepancy in their rank, category or eligibility status can send a grievance by email to the counselling committee between 1:00 PM today and 10:00 AM tomorrow, September 3. The final merit list, incorporating any corrections, will then be published on September 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM, followed by choice locking for Round 1 from September 4 (10:00 AM) to September 5 (5:00 PM). The committee has cautioned that this schedule is tentative and may change with prior notice.
Background: How NEET MDS 2026 Counselling Works
NEET MDS is the single national entrance examination for postgraduate dental admissions, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). NEET MDS 2026 was held on May 2, 2026, and NBEMS declared the result on June 2, 2026, at natboard.edu.in, with the topper scoring 802 out of 960 marks. Fifty percent of MDS seats nationally are filled centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the All India Quota, along with all seats in deemed and central universities, while the remaining 50 percent state quota seats, such as those in Odisha, are filled by the respective state counselling authorities. Seat Matrix and Participating Colleges
Odisha's 50 percent state quota MDS seats for 2026-27 are distributed across two participating institutes: SCB Dental College and Hospital, Cuttack, a government college, and Hi-Tech Dental College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar, a private college. According to the provisional seat matrix published on August 23, 2026, the state quota, in-service and management quota seats together cover subjects including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Periodontics, Public Health Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Radiology, and Conservative Dentistry. The seat matrix has been marked provisional and subject to change if any seat is de-recognised before choice locking.
Fee Structure and Reporting
Candidates who secure a seat in Round 1 will need to download their allotment-cum-admission letter from September 7, 2026, and report for admission on September 9 and 10, 2026, at the SCB Dental College and Hospital campus in Cuttack. Reporting candidates must deposit the college leaving certificate and other original documents along with an admission fee of Rs 58,800, payable as a demand draft in favour of the Convener, PG Dental Counselling Committee 2026, at the SBI SCBMC campus branch; any balance course fee will be collected separately by the respective colleges. Fee structures vary between the two participating colleges: at Hi-Tech Dental College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar, the state quota fee has been notified at Rs 7.15 lakh per year, while management quota fees follow a separate structure detailed in the official state guideline for PG admission 2026-27.
