About All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), Bathinda
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, is one of India's premier central government medical institutions, established in 2019 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. AIIMS Bathinda is one of four AIIMS announced under Phase IV and V of PMSSY and became fully operational in 2020, becoming a beacon of world-class medical education, advanced clinical care, and research for Punjab and surrounding states. Located on Mandi Dabwali Road near Giani Zail Singh College at Jodhpur Romana, Bathinda — approximately 5 km from Bhatinda Airport (BUP), Punjab — AIIMS Bathinda offers exceptional connectivity for both domestic and international students. The institute is declared an Institute of National Importance (INI), giving it the same constitutional stature as AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and all other AIIMS institutions across India. AIIMS Bathinda has received the prestigious NAAC A++ Grade — the highest possible accreditation — and is ranked 18th in India by NIRF under the Medical category, making it the highest-ranked medical institution in Punjab and one of the top 20 medical colleges in the country. This places it significantly above all other medical colleges in Punjab and northern India (excluding AIIMS New Delhi). The academic infrastructure is world-class: a 750-bed super-specialty teaching hospital with 40+ departments including all major medical, surgical, and super-specialty branches; a 24/7 air-conditioned smart library with extensive print collections, a digital e-library (MyLOFT), and dedicated computer research labs; modular operation theatres; advanced diagnostic technology including MRI, CT Scan; and fully modern lecture halls with multimedia capabilities. AIIMS Bathinda offers 100 MBBS seats annually (intake breakdown: UR-24, OBC-14, SC-8, ST-4, PwBD-3% horizontal), filled 100% through MCC All India Quota counselling based on NEET UG merit. PG admissions (56 seats across various specializations) are through INI CET (Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test). B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing program is also offered with 30 seats. The MBBS tuition fee at AIIMS Bathinda is just ₹6,790 for the entire 5-year MBBS course — making it one of the most affordable premier medical institutions in India. PG course fees are similarly nominal at ₹4,650. Central government reservation policy applies: 27% OBC, 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 10% EWS, 5% PwBD horizontal reservation.
