Yes, hostel accommodation is compulsory for all MBBS students at AIIMS Kalyani. No student is permitted to commute from home to the institute. Separate fully-furnished hostels are provided for boys and girls with double-occupancy rooms, central mess (vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals), Wi-Fi, 24×7 security, gymnasium, sports facilities, and common rooms. Rooms are allotted via a draw of lots.
The AIIMS Kalyani teaching hospital is a 960-bed super-specialty facility with 360 currently operational inpatient beds, 18 ICU beds, and modular operation theatres. The OPD has been operational since 2021 covering General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry, and other specialties. The IPD launched in 2024. The hospital has recorded over 15.92 lakh OPD visits, 41,000+ IPD admissions, and 10,000+ emergency and trauma cases since becoming operational, providing excellent clinical exposure for MBBS students.
The total MBBS fee at AIIMS Kalyani for the entire 5.5-year program (4.5 years + 1 year internship) is approximately ₹9,500, making it among the most affordable medical colleges in India. The first-year fee is approximately ₹1,628. Hostel charges are separate and minimal. The internship provides a monthly stipend of ₹30,070. As a government institution, fees are highly subsidized.
For 2024 MBBS admissions (Round 1), the NEET UG closing rank for General AI category was 2,149. For 2025 (Round 1), it was 2,276. OBC closing rank in 2024 was 3,245; EWS was 4,033; SC was 20,519; ST was 53,893. Admission is via MCC AIQ counselling only — there is no state quota.
