About Army College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi
Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS), New Delhi is a premier army-aided medical institution established in 2008 under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) of the Indian Army. The foundation stone was laid on 28 January 2004 by then Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes, and the college was inaugurated on 5 January 2009 by then Defence Minister Shri A.K. Antony. ACMS was established to provide high-quality medical education primarily to wards of serving and retired Indian Army personnel. It is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). ACMS has been graded 'A' by GGSIPU — the highest grade among affiliated colleges. With an annual intake of 100 MBBS students, ACMS has quickly paved its way to become one of the top 25 medical colleges in India and is among the very few medical colleges in Delhi. The college is located near Base Hospital Delhi Cantt — one of the most advanced defence medical facilities in India — which serves as its primary teaching hospital with the second busiest OPD in Delhi (after Safdarjung Hospital). The 100-acre campus at Brar Square, Delhi Cantonment is a beautifully maintained campus surrounded by the green, clean, and disciplined environment of Delhi Cantt. The campus is a fully residential college — hostel accommodation is compulsory for all students. Infrastructure includes 23 classrooms, 7 seminar rooms, 18 laboratories, 4 lecture halls, a central library, a MEDLAR computer centre with active internet, 2 canteens, 8 playgrounds, a gymnasium, a Bank of India branch on campus, and state-of-the-art skills labs. ACMS follows a unique dual identity — the academic rigour of a top-10 Delhi medical college combined with the discipline, ethos, and patient exposure of a military hospital environment. Since inception, ACMS students have consistently secured top positions in GGSIPU examinations, averaging 10 Distinctions per University Examination. The annual college fest — AURA — features sports, cultural, and inter-college competitions. ACMS is the only army-aided private medical college in Delhi and one of the very few such institutions in India.

Frequently Asked Questions
The primary teaching hospital is Base Hospital Delhi Cantt — one of the most advanced defence medical facilities in India. With the second busiest OPD in Delhi (after Safdarjung Hospital), it provides unparalleled clinical exposure. The hospital is staffed by elite Army Medical Corps officers and military specialists with both clinical and administrative excellence. MBBS students undergo clinical postings here from Phase III, experiencing a unique combination of high patient load, military discipline, and precision-driven clinical practice. Treatment at Base Hospital is restricted to Army personnel/families, ensuring students encounter a concentrated, well-managed patient population. This combination of military discipline, high case load, and specialist Army doctors creates a distinctive and exceptional clinical training environment.
The MBBS fee at ACMS Delhi (as per SFRC-regulated fee structure) is approximately ₹3,60,000–₹3,97,000 per year in tuition. Total annual cost including all institutional charges (tuition, university exam fee, student activity fee, Alumni Association, Vidyarthi Suraksha Kavach, admission fee) is approximately ₹4,07,130/year as per Shiksha data. Total MBBS tuition cost for 4.5 academic years: approximately ₹14,40,000–₹18,01,000. Hostel fee: ₹61,525/year (additional, compulsory). Electricity extra at ₹10/unit. Security deposit: ₹45,000 (refundable; split between college and hostel). Total all-inclusive cost for full 5.5-year programme (tuition + hostel + mess): approximately ₹20–30 lakhs. Fees are revised every 3 years per SFRC norms; always verify the current fee at ipu.ac.in at time of admission. Internship stipend: ₹25,000/month.
ACMS Delhi cutoff varies annually. Typical NEET rank range for Army Priority General category: 20,000–30,000 (closing rank). For higher priority categories (Priority 1–3: war widows, martyred personnel), closing ranks may be higher (i.e. more lenient — lower NEET marks required). For Delhi SC category, the 2022 Home State closing rank was 30,654–1,10,155. For EWS (2025 expected): 10,000–30,000 rank (requiring ~600–650+ NEET marks). Students are advised to score a minimum of 430–450 NEET marks even for Army category seats. ACMS is considerably more competitive than most state government medical colleges due to Delhi's premium location and the military hospital teaching environment.
ACMS admission is primarily for wards of eligible Indian Army personnel across 8 priority categories: (1) Children of serving Army personnel with 10+ years continuous service; (2) Children of ex-Army on pension; (3) Children of war widows/martyred Army personnel; (4) Children of medically boarded-out (service attributable); (5) Children of medically boarded-out (non-attributable); (6) Children of ex-Army discharged after 10+ years; (7) Children of APS/Army Medical/Dental Corps officers; (8) Children of MNS members with 10+ years service. Additionally, approximately 17–20 seats are reserved for Delhi SC/ST candidates (10+2 from Delhi-recognised school). All candidates must qualify NEET UG and be a minimum age of 17 years on or before 31 December of the admission year.
