The college was formerly known as Coochbehar Government Medical College and Hospital (CGMCH) and has been officially renamed to Maharaja Jitendra Narayan Medical College and Hospital (MJNMCH), Coochbehar.
DNB postgraduate programmes commenced from AY 2021-22. 3 candidates received PG allotment in MJNMCH via NEET PG 2021–2024 combined. MD/MS PG programmes are not yet available; DNB via NBE is the only PG pathway currently.
MBBS interns receive a monthly stipend of approximately INR 28,000 during the compulsory 1-year rotating internship at MJN Hospital.
100 MBBS seats are approved by NMC for AY 2024-25. A Letter of Permission (LOP) has been granted for increase to 150 seats for AY 2025-26. Of the 100 seats, 15 are under All India Quota (AIQ) and 85 are under West Bengal State Quota (WBMCC).
