Diamond Harbour Government Medical College & Hospital (DHGMCH) is a government medical college established in 2019 under the West Bengal State Government (Health & Family Welfare Department), affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), Kolkata and approved by NMC. The college has a rich heritage tracing back to December 1974 when it began as Diamond Harbour Sub-divisional Hospital, evolved into Diamond Harbour District Hospital (April 2012, 300 beds), and was upgraded to a Government Medical College & Hospital in June 2018. The only government medical college in South 24 Parganas district, DHGMCH serves as a healthcare beacon for the region including the vulnerable Sundarban delta area. Located at Diamond Harbour Road, Harindanga, Newtown, Diamond Harbour, South 24 Parganas — 743331, on a 27.34-acre lush green campus.
