Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMCH), Diphu is a government medical college located at Baghmari, Diphu, Karbi Anglong District, Assam – 782460. Founded as Assam Hills Medical College & Research Institute (AHMC&RI) in January 2011 by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Renamed Diphu Medical College per Governor notification on 21 November 2019. Officially inaugurated on 25 November 2019. NMC LOP: 17 March 2020. First academic session: AY 2020-21. 7th government medical college in Assam. Affiliated with SSUHS, Guwahati; NMC approved. 100 MBBS seats annually. Teaching hospital: DMCH — 416-bed teaching hospital (some sources: 300+ operational beds) with ICU, OTs, emergency, radiology, lab, blood bank. Primarily serves Karbi Anglong district, one of Assam's largest tribal-majority districts, and neighbouring districts.
