About Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital

Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital (BSAMCH) is a government medical college established in 2016 by the Government of NCT of Delhi, located in Rohini Sector 6, North-West Delhi. It is named in honour of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar — the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, first Law Minister of Free India, and India's greatest social reformer. BSAMCH was set up in the existing 29.4-acre campus of the 540-bedded Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital with an aim to provide leadership and excellence in teaching, clinical care, and service in a student-centred comprehensive campus. The college is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). With an annual MBBS intake of 125 students, BSAMCH is the only government medical college serving the North and North-West Delhi region — catering to a densely populated area of more than 30 lakh residents. The college's mission is committed to the advancement of knowledge and intellectual growth through teaching and research, and the well-being of the people of Delhi through communicative leadership and service with a smile. BSAMCH is Collegedunia's rank #34 among 660 medical colleges in India (2025). The total MBBS fee for 5.5 years is approximately ₹5.55 lakhs — one of the most affordable government MBBS programmes in Delhi. Infrastructure includes centrally air-conditioned classrooms, 3 lecture halls seating 130 each, examination halls, demonstration rooms, seminar halls, departmental museums, well-equipped laboratories, a 500-seat AV-equipped auditorium, a central library, a yoga centre, indoor sports facilities, a cafeteria, recreation halls, and separate boys' and girls' hostels. The campus is directly adjacent to Rohini West Metro Station and virtually merged with the 540-bed Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, providing early and continuous clinical exposure. DNB programmes are also offered at BSAMCH in multiple disciplines, making it a vertically integrated government medical institution.
