About Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior
Gajra Raja Medical College (GRMC), Gwalior, established on 1 August 1946 by Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia, is the 17th medical college of India and the first in Madhya Pradesh. Named after Rajmata Gajra Raja Scindia, it is one of India's oldest and most prestigious government medical institutions. Located on a sprawling 500-acre campus in Lashkar, Gwalior, GRMC is affiliated with Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU) and Jiwaji University, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college offers 200 MBBS seats, 178 postgraduate MD/MS seats across 22+ disciplines, 17 super-specialty DM/MCh seats, and 3 PG Diploma seats annually. The affiliated teaching hospital complex — comprising Jaya Arogya Hospital (1,200 beds), Kamla Raja Hospital (450 beds), 1000 Bed Hospital, and the Super-Specialty Hospital — collectively provides 2,190–2,650 beds and sees over 2,900 outpatients daily.
