GCS stands for Gujarat Cancer Society. The Gujarat Cancer Society was founded in 1961 and has been providing cancer care at M.P. Shah Cancer Hospital for over 60 years. In recognition of GCS's work, the Government of Gujarat allotted 25 acres of PPP land for GCSMC in 2009. The college was dedicated by PM Narendra Modi in 2011.
