About Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital, Udaipur
Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Udaipur — also known as Geetanjali Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) — is one of Rajasthan's most prestigious and comprehensive private medical institutions, established in 2008 by Shri J.P. Agarwal under the Geetanjali University Trust. It holds the distinction of being the third private medical college to be established in Rajasthan (after Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Jaipur and NIMS Jaipur), and has grown in 17 years to become the second-best private medical college in the state, ranked #3 among private medical colleges in Rajasthan by CareerEdwise and within the top 25 private medical colleges in India per NIRF 2022. GMCH Udaipur is NAAC 'A' Grade accredited and affiliated to both RUHS Jaipur and Geetanjali University, Udaipur. Located in Hiranmagri Extension, Manwakhera, on the NH-8 Bypass near Eklingpura Chouraha, Udaipur, GMCH's campus is one of its most defining features — set amidst the Aravalli Hills in the 'City of Lakes,' surrounded by a scenic landscape that is unique in Indian medical education. Udaipur is accessible by air (Maharana Pratap Airport, approximately 22-25 km from campus), rail (Udaipur City Railway Junction, approximately 7-8 km), and road (NH-8 passes directly by the campus). The campus covers 25–50 acres (sources vary; 50 acres per MBBSExpert; 25-35 acres per other verified sources) with extensive campus development. The attached teaching hospital — Geetanjali Hospital — is a 1,210–1,420-bed (sources range: 1,150 by one source, 1,210 per multiple verified sources, 1,420 per Edufever, 1,400+ per CareerEdwise) multi-specialty, super-specialty tertiary care hospital. The hospital sees over 2,900 OPD patients daily — an extraordinary outpatient volume that gives MBBS students exceptional clinical breadth. Geetanjali Hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology: 3.0 Tesla MRI, 1.5 Tesla MRI, Linear Accelerator (for oncology radiotherapy), 64 Slice CT Scan, 4D CT Scan, 4D Ultrasound, 2 Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories (1 for Cardiac Interventional + 1 for Neuro Interventional), modern operating theatres, ultra-modern ICUs, and a blood bank with advanced processing, screening, and storage. The hospital provides 24-hour accident, emergency, and pharmacy services. GMCH offers MBBS (250 seats), MD/MS (105–152 seats across 21 disciplines — sources vary; 105 seats per MBBSCouncil; 152 per MDMSEnquiry), Super Specialty DM (2 disciplines, 4 seats), B.Sc, M.Sc, Diploma, and PhD programs. The annual MBBS fee is ₹25,80,000 per year for state quota (Collegedunia 2024; total approximately ₹1.2 Crore). Management quota total: ₹1.4–1.6 Crore for the full course. Note: an important Rajasthan regulation states: 'NO PRIVATE COLLEGE IN RAJASTHAN OFFERS NRI SEATS' per Government of Rajasthan order F.5(968)DME/LC/2018/1997 dated 29.04.2019 — this is a key distinction from most other states. Admissions via RUHS Rajasthan NEET UG Counselling. Non-domicile students can participate from Round 3 onwards (Round 1 and Round 2 restricted to Rajasthan domicile candidates). GMCH library houses over 50,000 books including national, international journals, and e-journals — one of the largest medical college libraries in Rajasthan. The college has 100+ ongoing research projects, and alumni and PG graduates have strong placement outcomes: median MBBS salary ₹7.5 LPA; median PG salary ₹14.4–18 LPA (NIRF 2024 data); 61/66 PG students placed in 2024.
