The college's full official name is Government Allopathic Medical College, Banda (GAMC Banda). It is also known as Rani Durgavati Medical College, Banda, named after the legendary warrior queen. Previously referred to as GMC Banda.

Annual MBBS tuition fee is approximately ₹20,000 — one of the lowest in UP government colleges. Total course fee for 4.5 years is approximately ₹90,000 (excluding hostel and mess). Intern stipend: ₹17,000/month.
