Government Medical College and Hospital, Cuddalore (formerly Rajah Muthiah Medical College and Hospital – RMMCH), established in 1985 within the sprawling Annamalai University campus in Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, is one of the most distinguished medical institutions in Tamil Nadu. The Government of Tamil Nadu took over its administration from Annamalai University in 2021 and officially renamed it 'Government Medical College and Hospital, Cuddalore' on 09 May 2025. Affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the college operates a 1,400-bed multi-specialty teaching hospital with 17 modern air-conditioned operation theatres in a sprawling complex of over 75.75 acres. Serving 1,000+ outpatients daily, the hospital functions across 30+ departments.
