About Government Medical College, Baramulla

Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla is a government medical college established in 2019 by the J&K UT Administration with support from MoHFW, GoI. Located at Hospital Road, Kanth Bagh, Baramulla – the gateway city to North Kashmir – the college is the first government medical college in North Kashmir. It is affiliated with the University of Kashmir and recognised by NMC. The 25-acre campus features modern academic blocks, well-equipped labs, a central library, gymnasium, playground, and separate boys/girls hostels with mess facilities. The associated teaching hospital is the largest hospital in the North Kashmir region, located in the Kanthbagh area of Baramulla, providing tertiary care services to the entire population of North Kashmir and parts of Central Kashmir with nearly 4,000 daily OPD patients. The college also collaborates with Maternity and Pediatric Hospital, Urban Primary Health Center Old Town Baramulla, and Primary Health Center Kalantra for comprehensive clinical training. GMC Baramulla offers 100 MBBS seats, DNB programmes (started 2020-21), and developing PG MD/MS courses. MBBS fee is ~₹25,000–₹30,000/year (government rate). Ranked All India 297 and J&K Rank 5 among medical colleges. Approximately 58.7 km from Srinagar International Airport.
