About Government Medical College, Chittorgarh

Government Medical College (GMC), Chittorgarh is a newly established government medical institution located at 12, Chittorgarh–Udaipur Road, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Established in 2022 under the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (Raj-MES), Government of Rajasthan, the college is affiliated with RUHS, Jaipur, and recognised by the NMC. Chittorgarh — one of Rajasthan's most iconic historical cities — is the home of the magnificent Chittorgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest forts in India, associated with the legendary courage of Rani Padmini and the valour of Maharana Pratap. The city is approximately 115 km from Udaipur, 300 km from Jaipur, and 170 km from Ajmer. Chittorgarh Railway Station is well-connected on the Kota–Udaipur line. The campus is on the Chittorgarh–Udaipur Road, providing good connectivity to Udaipur (115 km) and its hospital ecosystem. Campus & Infrastructure: GMC Chittorgarh is located on an approximately 80-acre campus (MDMSEnquiry cites '80-acre campus' for this college). Infrastructure includes modern lecture halls, well-equipped science labs (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology), a library with medical texts and journals and digital resources, an IT Lab with campus-wide internet access, a dedicated teaching hospital for clinical training, and an auditorium. Separate hostels for male and female students with essential amenities, mess, and security are available. Cafeteria with hygienic food options is operational. Teaching Hospital: The attached Rural Hospital (also cited as Government Hospital), Chittorgarh, has approximately 300 beds per Edufever 2025-26 (another source, Bodmas Education 2025, cites ~500 beds). The hospital provides clinical training across General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, OBG, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Psychiatry. 24/7 emergency, ICU, diagnostic labs, and OTs are operational. Being the primary government healthcare facility in the historically important Chittorgarh district, the hospital serves both urban and rural patients. Note on campus size: MDMSEnquiry cites an 80-acre campus for this college at Chittorgarh. This is a significantly larger campus than typical for a newer 100-seat GMC; students should verify this from official sources. Courses: Currently MBBS only (100 seats). PG courses expected in future years. Standard NEET UG–based admissions via Rajasthan State Quota (85%) and MCC AIQ (15%). No management or NRI quota. Annual tuition: ₹60,000–₹70,000/year.
