About Government Medical College & Hospital, Baramati
Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College & Hospital, Baramati (PAHGMC / GMC Baramati) was established in May 2019 in MIDC Area, Baramati, Pune district. Named after Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar — the revered 18th-century Maratha queen and social reformer — the college is affiliated to MUHS Nashik, approved by NMC, and administered by DMER, Government of Maharashtra. It is one of Maharashtra's newer government medical colleges and the only government medical college in Baramati taluka, Pune district. The college campus is a large facility with a building area of approximately 2,50,000 sq. ft. (college, G+5 floors) and a 6,00,000 sq. ft. hospital (Parking+G+6 floors) — providing spacious classrooms, modern lecture halls, examination halls, demonstration rooms, well-equipped clinical laboratories, museums, an auditorium, a central library with medical books, Indian and foreign journals, digital library, and indoor/outdoor sports facilities. The hospital is attached with 500+ beds, 800–900+ daily OPD patients, and 24×7 emergency services with duty doctors and specialist coverage. MD programmes are offered in Physiology, Community Medicine, and Anaesthesiology. PG MD resident monthly stipend is approximately INR 65,800. The service bond (INR 10 lakh penalty) and a prohibition from going abroad for 5 years from MBBS degree date are both mandatory. Original certificates are retained by MUHS/DMER till completion of the surety period. During NEET 2021–2024 combined counselling, 14 candidates were allotted seats.
