Government Medical College, Korba (also referred to as Late Bisahu Das Mahant Memorial Government Medical College / LBDM GMC Korba) is a government medical college established in September 2021 by the Department of Medical Education, Government of Chhattisgarh. It is one of the newest government medical colleges in Chhattisgarh, created to address the healthcare and medical education gap in the industrial Korba district — home to major coal and power industries including SECL, NTPC, and BHEL. The college is affiliated with Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, and is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for 125 MBBS seats annually. No postgraduate (MD/MS) programmes are offered yet; these are typically introduced several years after a college's establishment and the graduation of the first few MBBS batches following NMC inspections. The campus is located at Jhagarha, Bypass Road, Korba, spanning approximately 25 acres. The campus is modern and still developing, with state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities. The attached Government Medical College Hospital, Korba (upgraded District Hospital) is a 500+ bed tertiary care facility offering comprehensive healthcare across all clinical specialties. The hospital has 24x7 Emergency & Trauma services, ICU, operation theatres, Blood Bank, and extensive OPD/IPD services, providing students with good and diverse hands-on clinical exposure from early MBBS years.
