About Government Medical College, Rajouri

Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri is a government medical college established vide J&K Government Order No. 675-HME of 2017 (dated 23.10.2017) with the aim to provide quality medical education and healthcare services to the Peer Panchal region (Rajouri and Poonch districts). Located 3 km from Rajouri district headquarters, 153 km northwest of Jammu, and 180 km via Mughal Road from Srinagar, the college began its first MBBS batch in 2019 at the existing District Hospital Complex, Rajouri, as the main campus is under construction. The college is affiliated with the University of Jammu and recognised by NMC. The 22.62-acre green campus (under development) features modern temporary facilities: 2 gallery-type lecture halls (120-seat each), a dissection hall, fully equipped labs (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine), departmental museums, auditorium, digital library, indoor/outdoor games, and well-furnished hostels. The attached Associated District Hospital Rajouri has 300+ beds providing 24×7 emergency, trauma, and OPD/IPD services. Nursing and paramedical courses are also offered. MBBS intake: 100 seats (2019), increased to 115 from 2020 batch. JKBOPEE 2024-25 seat matrix: 85 J&K UT Quota seats + 17 AIQ seats (NMC approved). AIQ allotment: historically only 1 candidate/year (2021–2024).
