Govt. Ayurved College & Hospital (GAC&H), Bilaspur, established in 2012 under the Government of Chhattisgarh, is the second government institution in the state — and the only one in the northern part of Chhattisgarh — providing Ayurvedic education and healthcare. The college is affiliated with Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, and approved by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM/CCIM), New Delhi. The first batch of BAMS students was admitted in October 2014 with an intake of 60 seats, which was subsequently increased to 75 seats from 2018 onwards. The college offers the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) undergraduate programme of 5.5 years (4.5 years academic + 1 year compulsory internship). The campus is designed in accordance with Ayurvedic principles and hosts 14 well-equipped departments including Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, and clinical departments. The college operates a government Ayurvedic hospital providing free/subsidised Ayurvedic treatment to patients from Bilaspur and surrounding regions, with a special focus on health education programmes in remote villages of Chhattisgarh.
