Haveri Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), popularly known as Haveri Medical College, is a government medical institution established in 2022 by the Government of Karnataka under the Department of Medical Education as part of the centrally sponsored scheme to expand medical education and healthcare in underserved districts of North Karnataka. The institution is headed by Dean Dr. Kavana G Venkatappa. HIMS is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for 150 MBBS seats. The college is spread over a 56-acre campus at 1, Kaginele Road, Haveri — 581110, in a serene environment with a lush green surrounding. The campus features well-equipped lecture theatres (150-seat capacity each), dedicated demonstration rooms, examination hall, NMC-compliant departmental laboratories, departmental museums, a central library with Indian and foreign journals and digital resources, spacious classrooms, seminar halls, and separate hostels for boys and girls. The attached teaching hospital is the Government District Hospital, Haveri — a 500+ bedded multi-specialty government hospital equipped with Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical, and Clinical departments, offering 24×7 emergency, OPD, IPD, ICU, Blood Bank, Radiology, Centralized Diagnostic Labs (Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology), and major tie-ups with corporate entities and TPAs for cashless services. Clinical specialties include General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, ENT, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Forensic Medicine. Haveri district is in North Karnataka with excellent road connectivity on NH-48 (Bengaluru–Mumbai National Highway). Haveri is approximately 335 km from Bengaluru (~7 hours by road), 73.8 km from Hubballi Junction (nearest major railway station), and approximately 70–79 km from Hubli Airport (HBX). HIMS aims to provide world-class, quality medical education to students from all sections of society and to be recognized globally for creating competent, compassionate, socially responsible medical professionals.

Placement Highlights 2025
HIMS Haveri is a newly established college (first MBBS batch 2022-23). Graduates from the first batch are completing clinical years (2025-26). Formal placement data is not yet available. MBBS graduates will primarily pursue NEET PG for postgraduate specialisation or join Karnataka Government health services (District Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs) in the North Karnataka region.

For MBBS: 85% state quota via KEA Karnataka counselling; 15% AIQ via MCC All India Quota counselling. For PG: 50% via MCC AIQ and 50% via KEA. All counselling is online; no direct admission is allowed.
The MBBS tuition fee is ₹64,350 per year (2024-25 Karnataka Government norms), totalling approximately ₹2.89 lakhs for the 4.5-year academic duration. Additional hostel, mess, examination, and university fees are charged separately at Karnataka Government norms.
