The MBA at HBS is offered in five specialisations: Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems and Business Analytics. Students study a common set of core management subjects first and then move into their chosen specialisation, which allows a candidate to build depth in one functional area while still understanding how the other areas of a business work together. Classroom teaching is supported by case studies, presentations, business projects, workshops, student mentoring and interaction with industry professionals, and every student is expected to complete a summer internship as part of the programme.
The campus is in the eastern part of Kolkata and combines air-conditioned classrooms, a computer centre, a library, seminar and group discussion rooms, an auditorium, a cafeteria and separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls. A dedicated placement cell and a counselling cell support students with career planning, internships and recruiter interaction throughout the two years. Student-run and institute-level events such as Bizcom, the Global E-Summit and Smriti give management students a platform to practise leadership, event management and presentation skills outside the lecture hall.
