Admission to the two-year MBA (PGP) at IIM Guwahati is based on a candidate's CAT performance, academic record in Class 10, Class 12 and the bachelor's degree, and work experience. For the 2026-28 batch, the institute used CAT 2025 scores, and candidates did not need to have selected IIM Guwahati in their CAT form to be considered. Candidates cannot apply directly to the institute. Those who meet the basic academic and CAT eligibility receive an email from the IIMG Admission Office with a link to an online application form, and only candidates who complete this form are considered for final selection.

Admission Process at Indian Institute of Management Guwahati
Stage 0 is basic academic eligibility. A candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of at least three years after Class 12 from a recognised university, with a minimum of 50 percent marks or equivalent CGPA, relaxed to 45 percent for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Final-year students and those awaiting results can apply, but they must submit proof of having completed all degree requirements by 30 June 2026 and submit their final marksheet within the deadline notified by the institute. Selected candidates must be at least 19 years of age as on 30 June 2026.
Stage 1 is CAT eligibility. Candidates must achieve a positive raw score in all three sections of CAT and meet the overall and sectional percentile cut-offs prescribed for their category. For General and EWS candidates the minimum is the 85th overall percentile and the 75th in each section, and the cut-offs are lower for reserved categories, as shown on the cutoff page. Candidates who clear Stages 0 and 1 are invited to submit the online application form.
Stage 2 is final selection through a Composite Score. The score is computed as 0.65 times the normalised CAT score plus 0.35 times the normalised application rating. The application rating is built from scores for Class 10 performance, Class 12 performance, bachelor's performance and work experience, and the total is divided by 35. Candidates are ranked separately within each category. The institute has stated that it does not currently conduct a Written Ability Test or Personal Interview, but it can revise this if required.
