Indian Institute of Management Guwahati - Overview

During its formative phase the institute is mentored by IIM Ahmedabad, which guides it on academic architecture, curriculum frameworks, pedagogy, assessment philosophy, governance structures, quality assurance and faculty development. The Mentor Director of IIM Guwahati is Prof. Bharat Bhasker, who is also the Director of IIM Ahmedabad. The IIMG programme manual has been prepared in alignment with the IIM Ahmedabad manual, so students can expect a familiar academic framework that is adapted to the needs of a new institution. At present the institute operates from a transit campus at Tech City, Bongora, in Kamrup district, which is within a ten-minute drive of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. A permanent campus is being planned at Marabhita near Palasbari in Kamrup district. Admission to the MBA programme is based on the Common Admission Test, along with academic performance in Class 10, Class 12 and the bachelor's degree, and work experience. The institute has stated that it does not currently conduct a Written Ability Test or Personal Interview, though it reserves the right to revise its process.
