In recent JoSAA counselling rounds, the closing rank for B.Tech CSE at IIT Dharwad in the General (Gender Neutral) All India category has been in the range of approximately AIR 4,700–6,300. In 2024, the JEE Advanced closing rank for CSE was approximately 6,375 for General category. The cutoff for EE was around 10,500, Mechanical around 15,000, and Civil/Chemical around 16,000–17,000. The total tuition fee for a 4-year B.Tech at IIT Dharwad is INR 8 lakh (INR 1 lakh/year). Including other mandatory academic charges, the annual academic fee for General/OBC/EWS students with family income above INR 5 LPA is approximately INR 2,45,500/year, totalling approximately INR 9.82 lakh for 4 years. Hostel fees (~INR 25,000/semester) and mess charges are additional. SC/ST/PwD students are fully exempt from tuition fees. Students with family income below INR 1 lakh receive a 100% tuition waiver, and those with income between INR 1–5 lakh receive a 2/3rd remission.
