BAMS Course Structure at KDBL Ayurveda College

• First Professional Year: Padartha Vigyan & Ayurveda Itihas, Sanskrit, Rachana Sharir (Anatomy), Kriya Sharir (Physiology), Maulik Siddhanta
• Second Professional Year: Dravyaguna Vigyan, Roga Nidana & Vikriti Vigyan, Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana, Charaka Samhita (Purva Ardha)
• Third Professional Year – Part I: Agada Tantra, Swasthavritta & Yoga, Prasuti Tantra & Stri Roga, Charaka Samhita (Uttara Ardha)

How the BAMS Curriculum Is Delivered at KDBL

Classroom instruction at KDBL Ayurveda College is supported by dedicated laboratories for Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacy practicals, alongside a digital library stocked with Ayurvedic texts, modern medical journals, and e-resources. Because the college maintains a herbal garden with more than 500 medicinal plant species directly on the Chanakwadi campus, Dravyaguna and pharmacognosy sessions regularly include live plant identification rather than relying solely on herbarium specimens or photographs — a practical advantage when preparing for both internal MUHS assessments and NCISM's periodic quality evaluations. Clinical subjects in the Third Professional Year are taught in close coordination with the attached 100+ bed Sant Eknath Ayurvedic Hospital, where OPD and IPD postings expose students to Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Strirog & Prasuti Tantra, Shalakya Tantra, and Shalya Tantra under faculty supervision, building the clinical confidence required before the final rotatory internship. Faculty across departments largely hold MD or MS qualifications from recognised Ayurveda institutions in Maharashtra, and several have prior teaching experience at other MUHS-affiliated colleges, bringing a breadth of academic exposure to the classroom. Research Methodology & Biostatistics is included in the final professional year, aligning with NCISM's push toward evidence-informed Ayurvedic practice and preparing graduates who wish to pursue MD/MS Ayurveda through AIAPGET after completing their internship.

Eligibility, Assessment Pattern & Postgraduate Pathway

Admission into the BAMS programme at KDBL requires candidates to have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary / HSC) in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, securing at least 50% aggregate marks in PCB for the General category (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates), with a valid NEET-UG qualifying score of at least the 50th percentile for General category candidates, 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC, and 45th percentile for PWD candidates, since seat allotment across both the All India Quota and Maharashtra State Quota is entirely NEET-UG merit-based. A minimum age of 17 years as on 31st December of the admission year applies, with no upper age limit as per current guidelines. Each professional year at KDBL culminates in university-conducted theory and practical examinations set by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, combining written papers, viva-voce, and clinical/practical assessments — a pattern consistent across all MUHS-affiliated Ayurveda colleges. On successful completion of the Third Professional Year (Final) examinations and the compulsory one-year rotatory internship, graduates receive the BAMS degree, which qualifies them for state Ayurveda council registration and, if they choose to specialise further, entry into MD/MS Ayurveda programmes through the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET), followed by state-level PG counselling in Maharashtra or elsewhere in India.
