Cutoff data is often presented as a static table of numbers, but understanding the trends and drivers behind those numbers is what helps aspirants make genuinely informed decisions. MAIT's cutoffs have been on a sustained upward trajectory - meaning each year, a slightly better rank is required to secure the same branch - driven primarily by two factors: the growing reputation of MAIT's placement outcomes, and the increasing number of students who choose GGSIPU over out-of-state colleges as Delhi NCR's engineering ecosystem strengthens.

MAIT Delhi Cutoff Trends: What the Data Actually Tells You

The CSE cutoff at MAIT in the Delhi domicile category is significantly more accessible than the outside-state category, and this distinction matters enormously. Students who are Delhi residents and hold a valid domicile certificate compete in a smaller, domicile-only pool for a larger share of seats. For a student sitting at, say, JEE Main 88–90 percentile with Delhi domicile, CSE at MAIT is a realistic target. The same percentile in the outside-state category would likely fall short of the CSE closing rank in most years.

Newer specialisations like AI & ML and Data Science show cutoff patterns that are still settling. Because these are relatively new programmes with less established placement histories, their closing ranks in some years are lower than main CSE - but this gap is closing rapidly as their placement records strengthen. For a student who is genuinely interested in machine learning or data engineering as a career, these specialisations at MAIT offer an opportunity to secure a seat with a somewhat more accessible cutoff while still accessing the same campus infrastructure, faculty quality, and placement ecosystem as the main CSE branch.

One pattern worth noting is the behaviour of cutoffs across counselling rounds. In Round 1, the cutoffs tend to be relatively strict as students with competitive ranks lock in their best options. By Round 3 or 4, some seats in less popular branches or shift-2 options open up as students who were allotted those seats choose to join other colleges instead. A student whose rank falls just outside the Round 1 cutoff for their preferred branch at MAIT should absolutely stay engaged with the process across all rounds rather than accepting an alternative college prematurely.
