Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGM Medical College), Jamshedpur is the oldest government medical college in Jharkhand, established on 14 November 1961. Initially a private institution in undivided Bihar, it was taken over by the Bihar Government in 1979 and became part of Jharkhand after the state's formation on 15 November 2000. Affiliated with Kolhan University, Chaibasa (since 2010) and recognised by NMC. The 45-acre lush green campus at Dimna Road, Mango – 6 km from Jamshedpur city centre in the foothills of the Dalma Range – houses the college, administrative office, and hostels. Facilities include two blocks (Academic & IBMS), the main academic complex, four AC lecture theatres (90–110 capacity each, fully AV-equipped), well-equipped clinical laboratories, departmental museums, 'Ashish Hall' auditorium (300-seat capacity), a central library (63,000+ books, 75+ national/international journals, digital library), and indoor/outdoor sports and gymnasium.
