About Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences, Mandya

Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), Mandya, is a fully autonomous government medical college established in 2005 by the Government of Karnataka, with the first MBBS batch admitted in 2006 and first PG batch in 2010-11. Located prominently on the Bengaluru–Mysuru National Highway (NH-275) — 90 km from Bengaluru and 46 km from Mysuru — MIMS enjoys exceptional connectivity and strategic access to a large patient population from both urban and rural Karnataka. The college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). MIMS is a 100% merit-oriented institution: students are selected through NEET with 85% seats via KEA Karnataka state counselling and 15% via MCC All India Quota — there is no Management or NRI quota. The college has 150 MBBS seats (recognized for 100 seats initially; expanded to 150 from 2020-21) and 59 PG seats across 17 MD/MS specialties. The 25-acre campus includes 22 departments (including Radiotherapy), 5 lecture halls (4 × 120-seat + 1 × 250-seat), an examination hall with 350-seat CCTV-monitored capacity, demonstration rooms, a Central Library (1,600+ sq.m., 8,600+ books, 70+ journals, e-library with Wi-Fi broadband), well-equipped skill labs, departmental museums, central stores, student lounges, and basement parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. An Auditorium of 600-seat capacity is under construction. The attached MIMS Hospital (550–850+ beds across different sources, with core capacity of 550 beds and operational expansion to 650–850+) is a 24×7 tertiary care hospital with heavy footfall, advanced ICUs (ICCU, Medical ICU, Respiratory ICU, Neonatal ICU), AC Labour Ward, Regional Diagnostic Laboratory, Dialysis unit, Blood Bank, major and minor OTs, and all clinical specialties. Student hostels provide 154 rooms each for boys and girls (2 students/room) with recreation room, mess, in-house library (proposed), and basic amenities. A special distinction: MIMS actively contributed to COVID-19 response initiatives and has a recognized research culture with active projects in Pathology, Microbiology, Paediatrics, Medicine, and Public Health.
