MACEN offers the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) as its flagship and currently sole undergraduate programme, spanning a total of 5.5 years (66 months): 4.5 years of academic study divided across the First, Second, and Third Professional years, followed by a compulsory one-year rotatory internship. The curriculum, examinations, and degree are governed by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, in line with NCISM's national BAMS syllabus framework, ensuring that graduates hold a degree recognised across India for both practice registration and postgraduate study. Teaching at MACEN blends classical Ayurvedic textual study (Samhita Siddhant) with modern pre-clinical sciences such as Anatomy (Rachana Sharir) and Physiology (Kriya Sharir), before progressing into pharmacological, diagnostic, and clinical subjects in the later professional years. Practical training is reinforced through the college's own herbal garden, teaching pharmacy and quality-testing laboratory, and the attached 60-bed Matoshri Ayurved Hospital, giving students hands-on experience well before their internship year.

Matoshri Ayurved College and Hospital offers students courses in different areas. Candidates can enroll in UG programmes based on their interests and career goals. Admissions are offered based on merit or entrance exam performance. How the BAMS Curriculum Is Delivered at MACEN

Classroom instruction at MACEN is supported by modern lecture halls and a dedicated seminar hall used for departmental teaching as well as CME programmes and academic conferences. Because the college maintains its own herbal garden on campus, Dravyaguna and pharmacognosy sessions regularly include live plant identification rather than relying solely on herbarium specimens or photographs — a practical advantage when preparing for both internal MUHS assessments and NCISM's periodic quality evaluations. Second-year Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana training is reinforced through the college's teaching pharmacy and quality-testing laboratory, where students learn classical Ayurvedic pharmaceutical preparation methods alongside basic formulation quality-testing techniques. Clinical subjects in the Third Professional Year are taught in close coordination with the attached Matoshri Ayurved Hospital, where OPD and IPD postings across its 60 indoor beds expose students to Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, and allied departments under faculty supervision, building the clinical confidence required before the final rotatory internship. Research Methodology & Biostatistics is included in the final professional year, aligning with NCISM's push toward evidence-informed Ayurvedic practice and preparing graduates who wish to pursue MD/MS Ayurveda through AIAPGET after completing their internship.

Eligibility, Assessment Pattern & Postgraduate Pathway

Admission into the BAMS programme at MACEN requires candidates to have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary / HSC) in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, securing at least 50% aggregate marks in PCB for the General category, with relaxed thresholds applicable to SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories as per Maharashtra and national AYUSH admission norms. A minimum age of 17 years as on 31st December of the admission year and a valid NEET-UG qualifying score are mandatory, since seat allotment across both the All India Quota and Maharashtra State Quota is entirely NEET-UG merit-based. Each professional year at MACEN culminates in university-conducted theory and practical examinations set by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, combining written papers, viva-voce, and clinical/practical assessments — a pattern consistent across all MUHS-affiliated Ayurveda colleges. On successful completion of the Third Professional Year (Final) examinations and the compulsory one-year rotatory internship, graduates receive the BAMS degree, which qualifies them for state Ayurveda council registration and, if they choose to specialise further, entry into MD/MS Ayurveda programmes through the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET), followed by state-level PG counselling in Maharashtra or elsewhere in India.
