MMCH was established as a medical college in 2004 (some sources: 2001 or 2009 — these refer to different milestones). Midnapur Sadar Hospital existed long before and was converted into the full-fledged Midnapore Medical College and Hospital by the Government of West Bengal to provide quality medical education in South Bengal.

Faculties are sufficient: minimum 15 in each department for 200 students/batch. Students can easily interact with faculties — no restriction.' Concern: 'Campus is too small and there is no playground.' Another student: 'Did not disappoint — one of the best. Admission through WBMCC procedure is perfect.'
