Navodaya Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (NMC Raichur) is the FIRST private medical college established in Raichur district, founded in 2001 by Shri S.R. NMC is located in Navodaya Nagar, Mantralayam Road, Raichur — 3 km from Raichur Railway Station and 3.6 km from the bus stand. Frequently Asked Questions
'Navodaya' means 'New Dawn' in Sanskrit/Kannada. NMC was founded in 2001 by Shri S.R. Reddy, who established the Navodaya Education Trust in 1992 with a vision of transforming education in North Karnataka. Shri Reddy built the Navodaya Hospital & Diagnostic Centre in 1996, which became the foundation for the full-fledged medical college established in 2001. Today the Navodaya Education Trust manages 15+ institutions across Medical, Dental, Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and schools.
Government quota: ~₹1,53,571/year. Management quota: ~₹4,22,727/year — one of the more affordable management fees in Karnataka private colleges. NRI quota: check KEA/NMC website. Total management tuition for 4.5 years: ~₹19 lakhs. Internship is paid (stipend provided). PG stipend: on yearly increasing scale.
NMC Raichur is doubly significant for minority and regional candidates. As a Telugu Linguistic Minority institution (Raichur borders AP and Telangana), a portion of management seats is reserved for Telugu-speaking candidates. As an HK 371(J) region college (Raichur is one of the 6 HK districts), 70% of state quota MBBS seats are reserved for candidates from the HK districts — Raichur, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, Koppal, Ballari. HK-region candidates thus have a much higher chance of securing a seat at NMC Raichur at lower NEET ranks than non-HK Karnataka candidates.
150 NMC-approved MBBS seats (expanded from 100 in 2012-13). 101 PG seats in 18 departments of MD/MS plus PG Diploma programmes. PG specialties: MD Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Anaesthesiology, Paediatrics, General Medicine, TB & Respiratory Diseases, Radio Diagnosis; MS General Surgery, Orthopaedics, OBG, Ophthalmology, ENT; and PG Diplomas.
