About Nirma University
Nirma University is a private university in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, established in 2003 as Nirma University of Science and Technology under the Nirma University Act passed by the Gujarat State Legislature, and renamed Nirma University in 2008 as it broadened into a multidisciplinary institution. It is recognised by the UGC and holds NAAC 'A+' Grade accreditation. The university is organised into constituent institutes, each running its own admissions and fee structure: Institute of Technology (Engineering, B.Tech/M.Tech), Institute of Management (MBA/BBA), Institute of Law, Institute of Commerce, Institute of Pharmacy, Institute of Architecture and Planning, Institute of Diploma Studies, School of Science, School of Arts, and the Faculty of Doctoral Studies and Research. Admissions across the university are stated to be strictly merit-based, with the university explicitly warning applicants that it does not offer any 'management quota' admissions and that no individual or agent is authorised to influence admission decisions for payment. Most undergraduate programmes divide intake into a General/All-India Category (typically 85% of seats, admitted via JEE Main for B.Tech, CLAT for Law programmes, or HSC merit for B.Com/BBA), an NRI/NRI-Sponsored Category (typically 15%), and additional Supernumerary seats (up to 15% over and above intake) reserved for PIO/OCI/Foreign Nationals/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries & South-East Asia (CIWGC-SEA). For Gujarat-domicile Engineering applicants, a State Quota (ACPC, Government of Gujarat) is also available alongside the university's own All-India seats. All fee and seat figures below are drawn directly from the official admission pages of Nirma University's constituent institutes (technology.nirmauni.ac.in, management.nirmauni.ac.in, law.nirmauni.ac.in, commerce.nirmauni.ac.in) for the 2026-27 academic year, and are explicitly stated by the university to be subject to revision/approval by the Fee Regulatory Committee, Government of Gujarat.
