Admission Process at North Odisha School of Engineering, Mayurbhanj
For admission to the first semester, a candidate should have passed the Class 10 examination of the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, or an equivalent examination declared equivalent by the board, with the minimum aggregate marks and subject requirements given in the state admission brochure. The minimum age is 14 years and there is no upper age limit. For direct admission to the third semester under lateral entry, a candidate needs a pass in Class 12 Science from CHSE Odisha or an equivalent board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or a two-year vocational course in an engineering trade, or a two-year ITI in an engineering trade. The merit and cutoff pattern is explained separately.
- Register on the SAMS Odisha portal using a mobile number and email address
- Fill the Common Application Form (CAF) with personal, academic and category details
- Upload the required documents and pay the application fee online
- Attend document verification at a designated nodal centre if required
- Check the merit list and note your merit rank
- Fill in college and branch choices during e-counselling, adding North Odisha School of Engineering and the preferred branches
- Download the seat allotment letter, pay the admission fee and report to the institute with original documents
The merit list is prepared from the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, and ties are generally broken using marks in Mathematics, then Science, then English. Separate lists are prepared for different domicile and reservation categories as per state government norms, and supernumerary seats are provided for tuition fee waiver candidates, economically weaker section candidates and lateral entry. Students are advised to fill a large number of choices in the correct order of preference so that they have alternatives if the first choice is not allotted.
Documents normally needed at the time of reporting include the Class 10 mark sheet and pass certificate, a conduct certificate and school or college leaving certificate, caste or category certificate where applicable, residential certificate, passport size photographs, the seat allotment letter and the fee deposit slip. Lateral entry candidates must also carry Class 12, vocational or ITI certificates. Keeping photocopies along with originals avoids delays. Students can also plan for the scholarship options that are available after admission.
Application dates, counselling rounds and the branch-wise seat matrix change every year and are announced by the state authorities on the SAMS portal, usually in the first half of the year. Candidates who do not get a seat in the first round can take part in later rounds if seats remain vacant. Questions about hostel, transport and the total payable amount should be asked directly to the institute administration. The fee structure gives the tuition details for planning.
