Parul Institute of Medical Sciences & Research was established in 2016 as a constituent medical college of Parul University in Vadodara, Gujarat, and is governed by Parul Arogya Seva Mandal Trust (PASM), a charitable trust founded in 1989.

From AY 2025-26, PIMSR offers 200 MBBS seats after NMC granted a Letter of Permission (LOP) for an increase from 150 to 200. Prior to 2025-26, the annual intake was 150 MBBS seats.

The institute is attached to Parul Sevashram Hospital, a 750-bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital located within the Parul University campus. The hospital handles over 1,100 outpatients daily with round-the-clock Casualty and ICU services, providing extensive clinical training across departments including General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Emergency Care, and Blood Bank.
