Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur (PTJNMMC), commonly known as JNM Medical College or MECAHARA, is the oldest and most prestigious government medical college in Chhattisgarh. Established on 9th September 1963 with just 60 students, the college received recognition from the Medical Council of India in 1969. Named after India's first Prime Minister, it was originally founded by the Government of Madhya Pradesh before Chhattisgarh became a separate state in 2000. PTJNMMC is affiliated with Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, and is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college offers MBBS (230 seats), MD/MS in 18+ disciplines, DM/M.Ch super-specialty courses, and PG Diploma programmes. It is the only tertiary-level medical institution providing specialty healthcare to approximately 2 crore people of Chhattisgarh. The campus spans over 70 acres and features modern lecture theatres, well-equipped laboratories, a central library, a 650-seat auditorium, and indoor/outdoor sports facilities. The attached Dr. B.R.
