RGESAMC's course offerings are exclusively within the Ayurvedic sciences — the institution has not expanded into allied health, nursing, or paramedical programs, maintaining a focused identity as a classical Ayurvedic medical college. This single-discipline concentration means all faculty expertise, hospital infrastructure, laboratory facilities, and research resources are directed toward one domain, which tends to produce a stronger departmental depth within Ayurveda compared to institutions that spread resources across multiple healthcare disciplines.
Rajiv Gandhi Education Society's Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital offers students courses in different areas. Candidates can enroll in UG and PG programmes based on their interests and career goals. Admissions are offered based on merit or entrance exam performance. Courses at RGESAMC: A Focused Ayurvedic Academic Profile from UG to Ph.D.
B.A.M.S. — Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery
BAMS is the primary undergraduate program at RGESAMC with an annual intake of 60 seats. The program spans 5.5 years inclusive of a compulsory one-year rotatory clinical internship, structured as four professional years followed by the internship year, aligned with RGUHS curriculum and CCIM regulations. The clinical training component is delivered through the attached 200-bed hospital — a patient base that is significantly more substantial than what a minimum-compliance 60-bed hospital would provide, supporting broader case exposure across Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Shalya, Shalakya, Prasuti, and Kaumarabhritya departments. Total BAMS program fee is approximately ₹11,04,000 as per Karnataka fee fixation norms, though this is subject to annual revision.
M.D. Ayurveda — Postgraduate Programs
RGESAMC offers postgraduate MD Ayurveda programs in Kayachikitsa and Dravyaguna, with 6 seats each. Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine) is the most clinically broad MD Ayurveda specialization, preparing graduates for comprehensive Ayurvedic clinical practice and hospital-level patient management. Dravyaguna (Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology) is a research-oriented specialization focusing on medicinal plants, Ayurvedic drug identification, pharmacological action, and therapeutic applications — a particularly relevant specialization given the institution's location in the herb-rich environment of North Karnataka. Both programs are 3-year full-time courses admitting candidates through AIAPGET or Karnataka state PG AYUSH entrance via KEA. The institution also supports Ph.D. research in Ayurvedic sciences, making it a complete vertical academic institution from UG through doctoral level.
