Rajmata Shrimati Devendra Kumari Singhdeo Government Medical College, Surguja — commonly known as GMC Ambikapur — is a government medical college located in Ambikapur, the headquarters of Surguja district in northeastern Chhattisgarh. Established in 2016 by the Government of Chhattisgarh with an initial intake of 100 MBBS students per year, the college was officially renamed on 9 July 2021 in honour of Rajmata Shrimati Devendra Kumari Singh Deo, a distinguished personality from the Surguja royal family. The MBBS intake has since been increased to 125 seats. The college is affiliated with Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh, Raipur, and is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). GMC Ambikapur holds a unique distinction of housing the first skills lab in the state of Chhattisgarh, marking it as a pioneer in competency-based medical education. The college is spread across a sprawling 52-acre campus that includes the college building, administrative offices, a teaching hospital, hostels, and faculty housing.
