Rashmi Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences & Research Center, Kudligi (RIA Karnataka) — Complete Guide 2026
RIA Kudligi: NCISM-Recognised New BAMS College (2024) with a 100-Bed, Decade-Old Ayurveda Teaching Hospital in Vijayanagara District
Leadership and Institutional Vision
RIA was founded on the vision of Late K.M. Thippeswamy (Founder President) and is today led by Dr. Ravi Kumar K.M. (President, BAMS MD), Dr. Sowmyashree P.K.M. (Secretary), and Principal Dr. H.M. Harisha. The institution's stated vision is to establish Ayurveda as a reliable and effective healthcare system through quality education, clinical practice, and research. Its mission — to provide structured quality education, promote practical clinical training, develop competent and ethical practitioners, and advance Ayurveda in healthcare — is directly reflected in the hospital's operational model: a genuine community Ayurvedic hospital where clinical learning is embedded in real patient care rather than a demonstration space created for student rotations.
14 Departments, 100-Bed Hospital, and Full NCISM Compliance
RIA runs all fourteen NCISM-prescribed BAMS departments: Samhita Siddhanta & Sanskrit, Rachana Sharira, Kriya Sharira, Dravyaguna Vijnana, Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana, Roga Nidana & Vikriti Vijnana, Agada Tantra Avum Vidhi Vaidyaka, Swasthavritta & Yoga, Kaya Chikitsa, Panchakarma, Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra, Prasooti Tantra & Streeroga, and Kaumarbhritya (Balroga). The NCISM Mandates section at riakarnataka.com publishes teaching staff PDFs, principal profile, hospital staff details, biometric attendance records (from September 2024), timetables, academic and event calendars, and all institutional committee compositions and minutes — a level of regulatory transparency that is exemplary for a college in its second year.
Location: Kudligi, Vijayanagara District — Kalyana Karnataka's Newest District Headquarters
Kudligi is the headquarters of Kudligi Taluk in the newly constituted Vijayanagara District (formed in 2021, carved out of Ballary District), part of the Kalyana Karnataka region of north-eastern Karnataka — which has constitutional developmental provisions under Article 371(J). The town is accessible by road from Hosapete (~55 km, railhead for Hampi), Bellary (~65 km), and Davangere (~80 km), giving students from the Bellary-Vijayanagara-Koppal-Davangere corridor easy access to a new NCISM-recognised BAMS college without the cost of relocating to Bengaluru or Hubballi.
