Admission to Sardar Patel University's domestic undergraduate and postgraduate programmes runs through the university's own Online Centralized Admission Prospectus process, published separately each year for Diploma/UG programmes and for PG/PG Diploma programmes. In recent admission cycles, postgraduate and PG Diploma admissions have additionally been coordinated through the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal, alongside the university's own admissions section, reflecting a broader move toward centralised state-level admission coordination in Gujarat.

Admission Process at Sardar Patel University
Because SPU is an affiliating university, the practical admission experience differs depending on where a programme is taught. For programmes run directly by university departments (most PG, PG Diploma and PhD programmes), candidates generally apply through the centralised university process, and merit lists, interviews or entrance tests (where applicable) are conducted by the concerned department. For undergraduate and self-financed postgraduate programmes run at affiliated colleges, candidates typically apply to the relevant college directly or through the centralised prospectus process, with the college itself handling document verification, seat confirmation and fee collection.
- Completed application through the university's Online Centralized Admission Prospectus (or GCAS, where applicable)
- Class 10 and Class 12 (or qualifying degree) mark sheets and pass certificates
- Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate from the previous institution
- Category/Caste certificate for reserved-category applicants, where applicable
- Entrance test or interview result, for programmes where the department prescribes one (e.g., PhD Entrance Test)
- Recent passport-size photographs and valid photo identification
International students follow a separate admission track altogether, applying through the university's International Student Centre (ISC) rather than the domestic centralised process. ISC admission has its own norms of eligibility, document requirements (detailed on the ISC's own pages), and a distinct fee schedule, with an additional USD 835 payable to the university itself when an international student is admitted to a programme at an affiliated college, over and above the fee charged by that college. Applicants of any category are advised to confirm current-year deadlines, eligibility criteria, and seat availability directly with the concerned university department or affiliated college, since these are set and revised independently each admission cycle rather than being centrally fixed across the whole university.
