Yes. SKMCH is a fully government-run medical college administered by the Department of Health, Government of Bihar. It was taken over by the state government on 1st October 1979 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges in Bihar.
For the 2025 Bihar UGMAC counselling Round 1: General (GN) – 555 marks, EWS – 551 marks, SC – 479 marks. The cutoff is competitive given SKMCH's rank as the 4th best government medical college in Bihar.
SKMCH's 170-acre campus includes 4 boys' hostels (capacity 400), a separate girls' hostel, a 24-hour central library with Elsevier access, campus-wide Wi-Fi, modern lecture halls, departmental labs, a canteen, a bank, a post office, an 18-room guest house, and extensive sports facilities. The campus also houses the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (Tata Memorial Centre) and a newly commissioned Super Specialty OPD block.
SKMCH has an NMC-approved annual MBBS intake of 120 seats — 18 under All India Quota (AIQ) via MCC, and 102 under State Quota via Bihar UGMAC (BCECEB).
