For the undergraduate BBA and BCA programmes, admissions are governed by the Directorate of Technical Education, while the B.Sc. programmes are governed by the Department of Higher Education, Madhya Pradesh. Both use an online counselling process. The first round is allotted on the basis of merit in the qualifying 10+2 examination, and if seats remain vacant a second round is scheduled according to the number of vacancies in each programme. Admission Process at SVIMS Indore
For the MBA programmes, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree of at least three years from a UGC or AICTE approved university with a minimum of 50 percent marks, or 45 percent for SC, ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates of Madhya Pradesh. Admission is based on the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) conducted by AICTE. Common merit lists prepared from CMAT scores are used in online counselling for Madhya Pradesh domicile seats, all-India seats and seats for Jammu and Kashmir resident or migrant candidates. Admission to the MCA and M.Sc. (Computer Science) programmes follows a separate common merit list prepared on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination.
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and passing certificates
- Graduation mark sheets (for MBA, MCA and M.Sc. applicants)
- CMAT scorecard (for MBA applicants)
- Domicile and category certificates, where applicable
- Counselling allotment letter and fee payment receipt
- Passport-size photographs and a valid photo identity proof
The schedule of counselling is published in newspapers and on the website of the competent authority, so applicants should register on the official counselling portal within the notified dates. The M.Sc. (Computer Science) programme requires a B.Sc. or a bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, or a BCA, B.Com or B.A. degree with Mathematics at the 10+2 or graduation level, with at least 50 percent marks (45 percent for reserved categories of Madhya Pradesh). The MCA programme has a similar eligibility structure for graduates, and the B.Sc. programmes expect Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Biology at 10+2.
After allotment, candidates must report to the institute with original documents for verification and complete fee formalities. The fee is paid in two instalments, in the first half of July and the first half of January, and late payment attracts a penalty as per AFRC norms. A refundable caution money of Rs. 1,500 or Rs. 2,000 depending on the programme is collected at the time of admission. Applicants who want to estimate their total expense can review the programme-wise fee structure before they begin counselling. To explore this further, see the fee structure.
Candidates can also look at how competitive previous counselling rounds were for the MBA programme and plan their choice filling accordingly. The recent MBA closing ranks are listed in the cutoff section. To explore this further, see the cutoff.
