BAMS – Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery
The BAMS programme at SKAMC is a 5.5-year course comprising 4.5 years of academic study followed by 1 year of compulsory rotating internship. With an annual intake of 100 students, the programme is structured across four professional years (BAMS Part I through Part IV) and covers a comprehensive Ayurvedic curriculum encompassing Samhita (classical texts), Rachana Shareera (anatomy), Kriya Shareera (physiology), Dravyaguna Vignana (pharmacognosy), Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana (pharmaceutics), Roga Nidana (pathology), Kayachikitsa (internal medicine), Shalya Tantra (surgery), Shalakya Tantra (ophthalmology & ENT), Prasuti Tantra & Stree Roga (obstetrics & gynaecology), Kaumara Bhrutya (paediatrics), Swastha Vritta & Yoga (preventive medicine), Agada Tantra (toxicology), and Panchakarma. Postgraduate Programmes (MD/MS Ayurveda)
SKAMC Bangalore offers five postgraduate Ayurveda programmes, each of 3-year duration with 6 seats per batch. These cover the principal clinical specialisations of Ayurveda and are affiliated to RGUHS with admissions conducted through KEA Karnataka based on AIAPGET scores. The five postgraduate specialisations are MD Panchakarma, MD Kayachikitsa, MS Prasuti Tantra Evam Stree Roga, MS Shalya Tantra, and MS Shalakya Tantra. The total PG intake across all branches is 30 seats per year. PG students receive intensive departmental training, research project guidance, case presentation mentorship, and publication support, making SKAMC one of the preferred destinations for aspiring Ayurveda postgraduates in Karnataka.
PhD Programmes in Ayurveda
Doctoral research programmes were launched at SKAMC in 2018, initially in Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma.
